Cultural Note: In North Indian families the साली-जीजा (saalii-jiijaa) relationship is famously teasing and jokey -- there's a whole genre of banter, songs, and jokes built around a man flirting playfully with his साली (saalii), since the relationship is culturally coded as light and informal compared to stricter in-law relationships. This is also the root of the term's slide into an insult (see the other sense): the playful familiarity of the word got weaponized into casual abuse.
