Cultural Note: उर्दू (urdoo) developed in the same Delhi-Agra region as Hindi, historically flourishing in Mughal courts, poetry (शायरी, shaayrii), and later in Lucknow's refined literary culture. Many Hindi speakers in Delhi grow up hearing उर्दू (urdoo) vocabulary constantly in Bollywood songs, ghazals, and everyday speech (words like मोहब्बत (mohabbat, love) or शुक्रिया (shukriyaa, thank you)) without necessarily reading the Nastaliq script.
Common Mistakes: 1) Learners sometimes think Hindi and उर्दू (urdoo) are entirely separate languages grammatically; in everyday spoken form they overlap heavily, and the difference is mostly in script and vocabulary register (Persian-Arabic vs. Sanskrit-derived words), not basic grammar. 2) उर्दू (urdoo) is written right-to-left in the Nastaliq (Perso-Arabic) script, unlike Hindi's Devanagari -- worth knowing even though this pipeline only uses Devanagari.
