Cultural Note: In Delhi-NCR, स्टेशन (steshan) almost always means the railway station unless context says otherwise -- ask कौन से स्टेशन जाना है (kaun se steshan jaanaa hai, 'which station do you need to go to') and everyone assumes trains, not buses or petrol pumps. It's one of the oldest and most naturally absorbed English loanwords in spoken Hindi, used without any sense of code-switching.
Common Mistakes: 1) Learners sometimes say रेलवे स्टेशन (relve steshan) when just स्टेशन (steshan) alone is already understood as 'railway station' in context; both are fine, but स्टेशन (steshan) by itself is the more natural everyday choice. 2) For 'bus station/stop', speakers usually say बस स्टैंड (bas staind) rather than बस स्टेशन (bas steshan) -- स्टेशन (steshan) alone defaults to trains in most people's minds.
