Common Mistakes: 1) Learners often try to inflect हज़ार (hazaar) like an adjective agreeing with the noun it counts -- it stays invariant regardless of the noun's gender or number, e.g. हज़ार किताबें (hazaar kitaaben, 'a thousand books') and हज़ार रुपये (hazaar rupye, 'a thousand rupees') both use the same bare form. 2) In counted amounts, the noun after हज़ार (hazaar) does not take a plural postposition the way English 'thousands of' does -- दो हज़ार लोग (do hazaar log, 'two thousand people') is direct, with no 'of' equivalent inserted.
