Common Mistakes: 1) Learners often reach for a passive construction with जाना (jaanaa) (like तय किया जाता है) when तय होना (tay honaa) already does this job more naturally and idiomatically. 2) Since तय होना (tay honaa) is intransitive, the person who made the decision is marked with से (se), not ने (ne) -- e.g. मुझसे तय हुआ (mujhse tay huaa, 'it was decided by me'), not मैंने तय हुआ.
