ले आना (le aanaa)

verb A compound verb built from लेना (lenaa, 'to take') plus आना (aanaa, 'to come'), meaning 'to bring' -- to go get something/someone and come back with it. One core sense; the flavor is in how naturally Hindi builds 'bring' out of 'take' + 'come' rather than a single dedicated verb.
Sense 1 : to bring (a thing or a person)
verb, transitive The literal sense is 'take and come' -- the subject goes, takes hold of the object, and returns with it. Object marking and agreement follow लेना's transitive pattern, e.g. वह किताब ले आया (vah kitaab le aayaa, 'he brought the book').
Synonyms: लाना (laanaa, simple-verb equivalent)
Frequency: high
Cultural Note: This is one of the most useful V+V compounds in daily Hindi -- said constantly about groceries, chai, kids from school, anything fetched and returned with. Notice how Hindi builds 'bring' compositionally (take + come) and 'take away' as ले जाना (le jaanaa, 'to take and go') -- the आना (aanaa)/जाना (jaanaa) contrast tracks direction toward or away from the speaker, the same logic that runs through the whole आना/जाना family.
Common Mistakes: 1) Learners often reach for लाना (laanaa) exclusively and forget ले आना (le aanaa) is the far more common spoken choice when someone actively goes, fetches, and returns with something -- the two are close synonyms, but ले आना (le aanaa) foregrounds the 'went and got it' journey. 2) Because लेना (lenaa) is transitive and आना (aanaa) is intransitive, learners sometimes get confused about which part carries ने (ne) marking in the past -- the whole compound follows लेना's transitive agreement, so ने (ne) is used with the subject: उसने सामान ले आया (usne saamaan le aayaa) is wrong; the correct form drops ने (ne) here because आना (aanaa) as the final verb makes the whole compound intransitive-agreeing: वह सामान ले आया (vah saamaan le aayaa). 3) Learners sometimes insert a person as the object without साथ (saath) or को (ko) when bringing a person, e.g. वह अपने दोस्त को ले आया (vah apne dost ko le aayaa, 'he brought his friend') -- the को (ko) marking on a human object is easy to drop by mistake.
