आगे (aage)

Cultural Note: This is the same 'ahead' pushed onto the timeline: just as you walk आगे (aage) down a road, time also moves आगे (aage). You will hear parents say आगे देखेंगे (aage dekhenge, 'we'll see, going forward') when deferring a decision -- a very common hedge in Hindi households.

Common Mistakes: 1) Learners overuse भविष्य में (bhavishy men) where a native speaker would just say आगे (aage) -- in casual speech आगे (aage) is the natural, unmarked way to say 'from here on' or 'going forward.'

Cultural Note: This is the storyteller's आगे (aage) -- the word that keeps a listener leaning in, as in आगे सुनो (aage suno, 'listen further/what happened next'), a phrase you'll hear from grandparents mid-story or from someone recounting office gossip.
