की वजह से (kii vajah se)

postposition A fixed postpositional phrase meaning 'because of, due to'; attaches to the oblique/genitive-marked noun that precedes it. Closely related to के कारण (ke kaaran), its more formal counterpart.
Sense 1 : because of, due to (causal)
postposition Follows a noun or pronoun marked with की/के as appropriate to gender/number of वजह (vajah) -- e.g. उसकी वजह से (uskii vajah se, 'because of him/her/it'), मेरी वजह से (merii vajah se, 'because of me'). The possessive marker agrees with वजह (vajah) (feminine), not with the preceding noun.
Synonyms: के कारण (ke kaaran, formal), के चलते (ke chalte)
Frequency: high
Cultural Note: This is one of the most common ways Hindi speakers assign blame or explain a situation in daily conversation -- from traffic (ट्रैफिक की वजह से (traiphik kii vajah se, 'because of the traffic')) to family excuses. It often carries a faint negative or apologetic shade, as if something went wrong because of the stated reason, though it is neutral enough to use for positive causes too.
Common Mistakes: 1) Learners often mismatch the possessive marker, writing उसका वजह से (uskaa vajah se) instead of उसकी वजह से (uskii vajah se) -- it must agree with वजह (vajah), which is feminine, regardless of the gender of the noun before it. 2) Confusing के कारण (ke kaaran) and की वजह से (kii vajah se) as interchangeable in all contexts -- की वजह से (kii vajah se) is the everyday spoken choice, while के कारण (ke kaaran) leans more written/formal.
