Cultural Note: This is the workhorse connector you will hear in almost every other sentence: रोटी और सब्ज़ी (rotii aur sabzii, 'bread and vegetables'), मैं और तुम (main aur tum, 'you and me'). तथा (tathaa) and एवं (evan) exist for formal writing and speeches, but in the kitchen and the market, it is always और (aur).

Cultural Note: Listen for this at any Indian table: a host will keep asking और लोगे? (aur loge?, 'will you have more?') and it is polite to say थोड़ा और (thodaa aur, 'a little more') rather than flatly refusing.
Common Mistakes: 1) Learners sometimes reach for ज़्यादा (zyaadaa) when और (aur) is what a native speaker would actually say in the moment, e.g. asking for और चाय (aur chaay, 'more tea') at someone's home sounds natural, while ज़्यादा चाय (zyaadaa chaay) sounds like you are commenting on quantity rather than requesting a refill.

Cultural Note: This sense overlaps closely with the 'more' sense above -- both come from the same root idea of 'additional/beyond this' -- so context (is it quantity or identity?) tells you which reading applies rather than the word itself changing form.
Common Mistakes: 1) कोई और (koii aur, 'someone else') and और कोई (aur koii) are both heard, but the word order shifts emphasis slightly; learners often use only one order and sound repetitive.
